Exploring Music Through Guitar
Recipient: Vanessa Gerads, Coeur d'Alene High School
This grant will purchase guitars to accommodate 60 HS students.  The students will learn to play guitars and read notation. ($1,000.00)

Clicked on Clay
Recipient: Anne Marie Couser, Sorensen Elementary
This grant will provide hands-on art materials.  The students will be introduced to and master the building of pottery. ($1146.60)

Meet the Masters
Recipient:  Pam Kiefer, Fernan Elementary School
This grant will offer students the opportunity to learn about and appreciate famous artists and composers through literature and through creating art work reflective of the styles of various artists and listening to music created by a variety of composers.  Materials funded:  Books, prints, music CDs, paper and oil pastels  ($605.84)

2002
Technology for String Students
Recipient:  Debbi Overby, Skyway Elementary School
A grant awarded to purchase computer, printer, scanner, music keyboard, Midi Sport, speakers and software. This project will integrate technology in the 5th grade strings program at 10 elementary schools. The system provides enrichment that is intriguing and motivating, extends quality of learning and involves parents in the learning process.
An Immersion of African Influence in American Culture
Recipients:  Dian Hanson and Sally Eilering-Sorenson, Sorensen Elementary School
A grant awarded to purchase two marimbas, 3 bass bars, an Artist in Residence’s time for one week, a youth marimba performance, and the materials to construct sets and costumes. This project will consist of a culminating performance, exhibiting a multidisciplinary study of the African cultural influences in America, while enhancing a cross-curricular study that will foster self-discipline, cooperation and comprehension.

Mouseworks

Recipient:  Barbara Deyo, Hayden Meadows Elementary School
A grant awarded for the purchase of a scanner and mouse pad kits. Students will create original art using technological processes, which will serve as a means to enhance and individualize a utilitarian object (mouse pad).
JepoARTy: Art History for Minors
Recipient:  Marci
L. Whittman, Lake City High School
A grant awarded for the purchase of books, slides, prints, videos, paint, play money and a timer. Students participate in an interactive game, which inspires and educates about past and present cultural implications of art.
Multicultural Awareness and Self-discipline through Percussion
Recipient:  Sally Eilering-Sorenson, Winton Elementary School and Sorensen Elementary School
A grant awarded to purchase multicultural percussion instruments.  Using multicultural instruments enhances social studies and rhythmic reading while fostering self-discipline and cooperative learning.
Music Express
Recipient:  Barb Windisch, Hayden Meadows Elementary School
A grant awarded to purchase a subscription , teachers guides and accompaniment CD, supplementing curriculum and presenting skill based activities that correlate to the National Standards.
Totable Tables for Chimers
Recipient:  Carol Allen- Mollgaard, Woodland Middle School
A grant awarded for the purchase of specially designed choir chime totable tables for the music program.  The tables allow the program to be self-contained thereby opening opportunities to perform.  Performances allow for the development of proper behavior and stage presence as an ambassador for the school.

Strobe Tuner

A grant awarded for the purchase of a Peterson 590 Strobe Tuner.  This will allow students to learn to play the instruments in tune.

A grant to feed the need for high interest yet portable music materials educating the whole student body.

The Mozart Effect
Recipient:  Carolyn Keefer, Ramsey Elementary School
A grant to instill the calming effects of Mozart’s music, as well as intellectual growth that research has shown to be true.

Exploring Music Through Choir Chimes
Recipient:  Carol Allen-Mollgaard, Woodland Middle School
A grant to provide 6th grade exploratory music with a way to learn music theory, through the use of a 5 octave set of choir chimes.
Scaling Musical Heights
Recipient:  Donna Pike, Fernan Elementary School
A grant for Orff musical instruments and Chromatic Glockenspiels enabling an entire class to participate using an instrument.

Imagination Express
Recipients:  Jane Morgan, Marla Nixon, and Jean Ter Hark, Borah Elementary School
A grant to provide supplement art, music, and creative movement materials for a team taught program for all students at the school.
Monet, Math & the Mona Lisa
Recipient:  Nancy Colburn, Sorensen Elementary School and Dalton Elementary School
 A grant to provide opportunities for students to extend their knowledge of Art, build visual skills, and compliment all areas of the curriculum using games, books, and visual aids.
Music to Motivate Creativity
Recipient:  Teri Paradee, Winton Elementary School and Hayden Lake Elementary School
A grant to use classical music to promote cultural understanding of periods in Art History.
Young Artist’s Traveling Art Gallery
Recipients:  Nancy Larsen, Jill McDowell, and Holly McNee, Ramsey Elementary School
A grant to create an after school art program for students to produce paintings of local points of interest that will be displayed in area businesses.
