This grant will purchase a greenhouse system, lumber, concrete, wiring and heater vent. The experience would promote hands on-math, science and writing. It involves 3rd and 4th grade students, teachers, local businesses, and garden professionals. ($1,793.00)
Ladybugs and the Magic of Metamorphosis

This grant will purchase a ladybug kit for each 1st grade classroom. The students will gain first hand knowledge of the lifecycle of the ladybug. ($1,779.00)
Oh, now I see it"

This grant will purchase a green laser. The students in grades 10 thru 12 will be able to locate see and describe the constellations. ($94.95)
Planter Boxes and More

This grant will purchase wood, soil, drip hose, books and seeds for three planter boxes for grades 1 thru 3. The students will plant seeds and monitor their growth. ($300.00)
Science is Hot!

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Students will enhance their knowledge and understanding of DNA technology, genetics, electrophoresis and teamwork. Materials funded:  Thermal Cycler and PCR kit   ($2,243.00)
Bots-R-Us: A Bot in Every P
Recipient:  Scott Jacobson, Lake City High School
This grant offers students opportunities for creative problem solving, healthy competition, for increased understanding of physics, technology and electronics as they design and build robots. Materials funded:  Robot Kits and supporting materials  ($1448.00)
The Projection Connection – A Different Point of View  (Potlatch Grant)
Recipients:  Jan Fay, Brenda Woodward, Ray Tekverk, and Paul Sutton, Coeur d' Alene High School
This grant offers students the opportunity to utilize interactive educational technology and programs to enhance classroom experiences and learning through natural and mechanical simulations in the areas of physical science and geology.  Materials funded: 3  InterWrite SchoolPad 300s, 2  InFocus LP-0500-Vs, 2 Desktop PC AMS D865Gs, and 2 PC Display ADI 15” LCD  ($5,118.00 with an additional $2,900.00 in matching funds from another source).

Mad Science = Imaginative Learning
Recipients:  Becky Olin, Dolly Day and Sally Haynes - Sorensen Elementary School
A grant awarded to hire the Mad Science team to come into each classroom and provide hands-on scientific demonstrations to the students. This is a traveling science enrichment program that will provide an “in-school” science field trip to every classroom in our building, sparking imagination with hands-on science activities.
The Real World Comes in Color
Recipients:  Jan Fay, Brenda Woodward and Tim Burnside, Coeur d' Alene High School
A grant awarded to purchase Tektronics Phaser printer and supporting supplies. This grant will enable teachers and students to create and produce high quality, inexpensive, color instruction materials and projects that can be used in and outside the classroom for the purposes of general instruction, presentation, and communication.
Aquadisplay
Recipient:  Bryan Duncan, Coeur d' Alene High School
A grant awarded to purchase a culture tank, tank stand, sump tank, pump, bio-filters, tank lights and cover, water test kit and heaters. Students will construct, assemble and plumb the 240 gallon tank system. Students will measure, monitor, and maintain the tank. This includes calculating carrying capacity, acclimating the system and bio-filter, stocking the tank, following water quality parameters, monitoring physical parameters, calculating growth rates and food conversion ratios, and harvesting fish for sale. This aquaculture display tank will be located in the main office at the high school.

Simply Simply Machines

Grant awarded to purchase a DMS II “simple Machines” module, videos, and a transparency set.  Students will increase their knowledge  and understanding of simple machines through hands on, minds on experience.
Noodling With Newton
Recipient:  Phyllis A. Tuttle, Project CDA
A grant awarded to purchase two Xplorer Dataloggers, “Noodling with Newton
” bundle, accessory kit, and Data Studio Software Site License.  Using scientific methods and hands on investigation students will learn physics concepts.
Aquaponics in the Classroom
Recipient:  Tracy Mosgrove, Skyway Elementary School
A grant awarded to purchase an aquaponics system (includes tank, pump, gravel) fish, books, plant and print cartridges. Students observations of plant/animal interactions will be recorded through the use of technology.

I Do; I See; I Know

A grant awarded to purchase one manikin student classroom package.  The study of anatomy using traditional means combined with the act of forming clay on a precise specially made skeleton.
How Long Did That Take?

A grant awarded for the pictures of five smart timer photogate systems.  This project will allow Students to use advanced timing devices during laboratory experiences.
Technology for Student Presentation

A grant awarded for the purchase of one projector.  This will assist technology students in making PowerPoint presentations of work accomplished on the Globe program, the Jason Project and Integrated Career Pathways with students’senior projects.

Airfoil Science

A grant awarded top purchase a J-3 Piper radio control trainer kit.  Students will build a radio control model airplane while studying the basics of flight and its history.  

The Wonder of Science Through Books

A grant awarded to purchase a variety of hands-on models and slides that illustrate the various body structures.  Students will have a better understanding of the structure and function of the different body parts with the use of  these hands-on models.
Mousetrap Physics 5000

A grant awarded to purchase six Mousetrap Race kit classroom packs.  Students will learn the concepts of physics relating to motion, develop critical thinking skills, and gain experience in mentoring and collaboration through hands-on investigation.
